Adaware Instructions:

  1. Put the following address in the address bar of Internet Explorer and click go http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
  2. On the left of the page under SOFTWARE click Ad-aware ( Not professional or plus).
  3. Scroll down on right side of page to DOWNLOADS
  4. Click on OUR SOFTWARE
  5. Scroll down until you see the following in the middle of the page

  6. Click on Ad-aware 6 from Download.com
  7. Click on the Download now button

  8. In the File Download box click on save

  9. Navigate to your My Documents folder and create a folder titled "adware" which you open and click save.
  10. The program will now download.
  11. When it has finished downloading click the open button in the File Download box shown in 8 above.

    12. The program will now install on your computer in the regular manner as you click the right buttons.

    Next, next, next and finish Close Internet Explorer

    Running Adaware

  12. Go to the desk top and double click the adaware icon. When the program opens click in the lower right "check for updates now" and then "connect" in the next box. And "OK’ in the next box. ( if you are connected to the internet)
  13. After the update has happened click "finish" and then choose "Scan now" from the left side of the main window and click the "next" button in the lower right. Now choose "Perform smart scan system scan" and click next
  14. The program will now scan your computer. When it is complete it will make a rude sound and a bug will appear. Choose "next" to see the log file, examine it to make sure you want to be rid of each and select each you want to be rid of by putting a check in the box or right clicking on the list and choose "select all" and click next and it will ask you to confirm the delete and delete all the chosen nasties.
  15. Adaware has a wonderful help file that you should read over… but your pop ups will go away and your computer will run better and faster. You should run it once a week.
  16. To exit the program click the close box.
  17. Next week start at #12 and scan the computer again.
